RENFE Trains

RENFE offers AVE, high-speed trains, ALVIA, for interurban journeys without the necessary infrastructure, Cercanías, for journeys connected to the outskirts of cities, and Euromed, for journeys in the Mediterranean corridor connected to Montpellier. Thanks to this diversification of trains, travelling by train is one of the best methods for exploring Spain and visiting the peninsular territory.

AVE

The AVE is the high-speed train offered by RENFE, inaugurated in 1992. They have free Wi-Fi and numerous services that provide extra comfort - AVE trains can reach up to 310 km/h!

ALVIA trains are the low-cost high-speed trains offered by RENFE to its passengers. Although they use Iberian gauge lines (instead of high-speed lines), ALVIA trains can reach 250 km/h. However, this type of train does not offer class differentiation. ALVIA shares train stations with the AVE.

Cercanías

Inter-local journeys are provided by RENFE commuter trains. These trains allow the arrival of passengers from the outskirts of the cities, mainly in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Bilbao and Valencia. Euromed

The Euromed is the train operated by RENFE that runs along the Mediterranean corridor. From Girona to Almería, passing through Barcelona, Tarragona, Castellón, Valencia, Alicante and Murcia. Due to the difficulty of the road, the Euromed reaches an average speed of 120 km/h.
