How do you book SNCF train tickets for groups in France?

Do you need to book for more than 9 passengers? You’re in the right place! For groups of 10 travelers or more, we offer a free dedicated group booking service.

Organizing a group train trip can quickly become complex: specific fares, seat availability, passenger management, invoicing… Especially if you decide to book separately, part of your group might end up in a different carriage, or you might not even be able to take the same train.

As the official partner of SNCF, France’s national rail operator, Kombo has developed a tool for you to book your train tickets for groups on routes operated by SNCF.

Whether you’re organizing a school trip to Disneyland Paris, a business seminar in Lyon, a sports or leisure trip to the French Riviera (Cannes, Monaco), a wedding party in Deauville, or an association trip, our tool lets you book the tickets that suit you.

To make a group booking, go to the top of this page, then start your search.

What is the traveler limit for group bookings?

Group booking for SNCF tickets covers trips of 10 to 60 travelers. Below 10 travelers, you can still book on Kombo, but without going through a group booking.

How do you book SNCF train tickets for a group?

Go to the top of this page and enter:

  • your departure and arrival stations

  • your travel dates

  • the number of travelers

The results appear instantly. All you have to do is select the time, class, and exchange and cancellation conditions that suit you.

If you’re already ready to pay and know the passengers’ names, you can continue to the next step, fill in the passenger details, and proceed to payment. You’ll receive your tickets once payment is confirmed.

If you don’t have all the passengers’ names yet, or would rather postpone payment, you can make a pre-booking.

How do you make a pre-booking?

No problem. With pre-booking, you secure your seats without paying a deposit.

All you need to provide when booking is:

  • your first and last name

  • your email address

  • the group name

Your seats are reserved, and you can finalize your booking up to 10 days before departure.

  1. You’ll receive a confirmation email

  2. You pay whenever you’re ready, up to 10 days before departure.

After this deadline, your pre-booking is automatically canceled and the seats released. You won’t be charged any fees.

When will I receive my tickets?

You’ll receive your tickets the day after your payment.

Are there payment facilities for group bookings?

Organizing a group trip often means collecting payments from several participants.

Thanks to pre-booking, you can secure the seats immediately and wait until you’ve received all the contributions before paying for the booking.

What payment methods are available for group bookings?

You can pay with a voucher or promo code, a Kombo gift card, instant bank transfer, holiday vouchers (chèques vacances), or an official purchase order (Mandat Administratif).

How do you provide information for all passengers?

You can enter the first and last names, date of birth, email address, and phone number for all passengers in your after-sales area.

Can I use my Avantage card on a group train booking?

No, group bookings don’t allow you to benefit from your discount card’s reduced fare. If you’re a small group where most people have an Avantage card, it may be worth making a standard booking instead, even if that means splitting it into several bookings.

When will I receive my invoice?

The invoice and proof of purchase are sent automatically.

After your payment, you immediately receive your proof of purchase. Your invoice will be sent the day after your trip.

Does group booking come with discounts?

By booking SNCF tickets for a group, you’ll benefit from reduced fares:

  • 10% discount for adults,

  • 30% discount for young people (12-27 years)

  • 60% discount for children (4-11 years).

Note that for SNCF group tickets, it’s not possible to use discount cards such as the Carte Avantage, the Carte Liberté, or TGV MAX Jeunes.

Which SNCF trains does group booking apply to?

Group booking for SNCF tickets applies to Inoui and Intercités trains.

Very soon, you’ll be able to make group bookings on TER trains too.

However, you won’t be able to book group tickets for Ouigo. If you really want to book a Ouigo trip as a group, you’ll need to split your bookings into groups of 9 passengers maximum.

What are the modification and cancellation conditions for a group booking?

Group booking for SNCF tickets offers great flexibility in organizing your trip.

Once your booking is confirmed, you can make changes:

  • Adding or canceling passenger(s): if one of the passengers can no longer travel, you can cancel their ticket (as long as the after-sales conditions allow it). You can also add a passenger if needed.

  • Cancellation or exchange of your Inoui and Intercités tickets, depending on their after-sales conditions.

Inoui’s cancellation conditions are as follows:

  • Up to 46 days before departure: 100% refund

  • From 45 to 12 days before departure: 50% refund

  • Within 11 days of departure : no refund

These conditions apply from the date the balance of the booking is paid.

Cancellation conditions may vary for other types of trains (TGV Lyria, TER, Ouigo etc.). If applicable, they will be specified when you request a quote, depending on the train concerned.

Can I book group tickets with other train companies besides SNCF?

For now, our dedicated group booking tool is only available for SNCF. We don’t yet offer this feature for other train companies such as Renfe (Spain), Trenitalia and Italo (Italy), Deutsche Bahn (Germany), or SNCB (Belgium). If you’re traveling as a group with one of these companies, you can still book through our regular search, by splitting your group into several bookings of up to 9 passengers each.
