European Sleeper runs three overnight routes: Paris – Berlin, Brussels – Prague and Brussels – Milan. Why travel with the European Sleeper night train?

Low-carbon travel: European Sleeper is built for travellers who want to reduce their carbon footprint. Choosing the night train cuts your environmental impact compared with flying or driving, and the company is run as a cooperative by night train enthusiasts.

Comfort and flexibility: four travel classes — Budget, Classic, Comfort Standard and Comfort Plus — let you choose between a reclining seat, a shared couchette and a private compartment with a fully made-up bed. The vintage carriages have been updated to modern standards, and compartments can be locked from the inside.

Appealing destinations and routes: European Sleeper serves Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague and Milan, so you can reach some of Europe's best cities overnight. Combine your journey with regional services from SNCB and NS to reach your night train easily.

Simple booking and support: booking on Kombo is quick and straightforward. Our team is available 7 days a week, from 9:00 to 22:30, to answer your questions.

A different way to travel: unlike travelling by plane or car, a night train journey turns the trip itself into part of the experience. You depart in the evening, sleep as the train rolls on, and wake up in a new city — saving both a day of travel and a night in a hotel.

European Sleeper routes, timetables and destinations

With European Sleeper you can discover Europe's capitals without losing a day to travelling. You can combine your journey with trains run by operators such as ÖBB, which covers a wide range of destinations, or Deutsche Bahn, which serves the whole of Germany and beyond.

Brussels – Prague: train ES 453 leaves Bruxelles-Midi at 19:22 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, calling at Antwerpen-Centraal (20:02), Rotterdam Centraal (21:21), Den Haag HS (21:39), Amsterdam Centraal (22:34) and Deventer (23:55). It reaches Berlin Gesundbrunnen at 06:03, Dresden Hbf at 08:32 and arrives at Prague hl.n. at 10:51. In the other direction, train ES 452 leaves Prague hl.n. at 18:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and arrives at Bruxelles-Midi at 10:30.

Paris – Berlin: train ES 475 leaves Paris-Est at 15:59 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, calling at Mons (21:02), Bruxelles-Midi (21:56), Liège-Guillemins (23:20) and Hamburg-Harburg (07:00) before arriving at Berlin Gesundbrunnen at 10:10. Train ES 474 runs the other way on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, leaving Berlin Gesundbrunnen at 17:25 and reaching Paris-Est at 11:57.

Brussels – Milan: trains ES 401 (Brussels to Milan) run on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and ES 400 (Milan to Brussels) on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The route calls at Cologne and continues through Switzerland towards northern Italy, serving Como and Milan.

Timetables can change, for example because of engineering works. Always check the departure time for your own travel date when you book.

Three overnight routes across Europe

European Sleeper links Paris to Berlin, Brussels to Prague and Brussels to Milan. The main stations served along the way include Antwerp, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Liège, Hamburg, Dresden, Cologne and Como.

Why take the night train instead of flying?

A night train fare starts at €49.99 one way in a shared Classic compartment, and the journey doubles as your accommodation: you leave in the evening and arrive in the city centre the next morning. A flight may show a shorter flight time, but you also need to add the trip to the airport, check-in and security, and the transfer into town at the other end — often three hours or more on top. Compare both options for your dates on Kombo.

The travel classes available

European Sleeper night trains run with vintage carriages updated to modern standards, in four travel classes.

Budget: the most affordable option, with seats in 6-person compartments or seats with tables in open-plan spaces. Seat reservation included, toilets in the corridor.

Classic: a 4, 5 or 6 person couchette compartment — seats by day, couchettes at night. Blanket, sheet, pillow and mineral water included, and the compartment can be locked from the inside or booked as a private compartment or women-only. From €49.99 one way in a shared compartment.

Comfort Standard: a maximum of 3 beds per compartment, with a fully prepared bed (fresh sheet, pillow and duvet), a 3-person couch and tables. Bookable as single, double or triple. Washbasin and toilets in the corridor.

Comfort Plus: the most comfortable option, with a maximum of 3 beds, a washbasin in the compartment, a fully made-up bed, towel and toiletries, a wake-up call at the time you choose, and breakfast, mineral water and a welcome drink included. Private compartments from €209.99.

FAQ: your questions answered

What luggage can I bring? Luggage is included in your ticket. European Sleeper recommends one suitcase or backpack plus a small daypack — luggage you can carry and store safely yourself. That is more generous than the allowance included with Ouigo tickets.

Which travel class should I choose? Budget for a seat, Classic for a shared couchette, Comfort Standard for a made-up bed in a compartment of up to three, and Comfort Plus for the most comfort, with a washbasin in the compartment and breakfast included.

Is breakfast included? Breakfast is included with Comfort Plus. In Budget, Classic and Comfort Standard you can add it when you book or buy it from the stewards on board.

Can I travel with my dog or cat? Yes, dogs and cats are welcome provided you book a private compartment. A surcharge of €29.99 per animal covers the additional cleaning.

Can I travel as a group? For more than 5 travellers you can add an extra trip to the same booking. Groups of 10 or more are handled by European Sleeper's customer service.

Can I change or cancel my booking? Refund and change conditions depend on the fare you book, so check the conditions shown at the time of booking. If you booked on Kombo and have a question, our FAQ is the fastest place to find an answer.

What are the alternatives to European Sleeper? European Sleeper focuses on connecting Western Europe with major cities, with modern comfort and a strong environmental focus. Other night train operators, such as Nightjet (run by ÖBB), cover additional routes, particularly towards the Alps and Central Europe, while Trenitalia serves landmark Italian destinations. For daytime travel across the Netherlands and Belgium, also consider trains run by NS and SNCB, ideal for short, fast journeys.
