What is SNCF Voyageurs?
Have you seen the new SNCF Voyageurs website and are a little lost between the different branches of the SNCF? We understand you (we are too sometimes…) and we explain everything to you.
Following a reorganization of the company in 2020, the activities of SNCF are now divided into 5 entities, of which SNCF Voyageurs is one. Indeed, SNCF Voyageurs is the branch of the SNCF which is in charge of passenger transport. In other words, it is responsible for the operation of passenger trains, the sale of tickets, the management of reservations, the organization of timetables and finally any initiative aimed at improving the customer experience of SNCF travelers. Finally, we could almost say that its name is quite intuitive.
The 4 other entities are: SNCF Réseau which manages and maintains the national rail network, SNCF Gares & Connexions which renovates and develops network stations, Rail Logistics Europe which takes care of rail freight and logistics activities as well as Geodis and Keolis who joined the SNCF group.
What trips are provided by SNCF Voyageurs?
The SNCF Voyageurs subsidiary is in turn divided into 3 main divisions according to the types of trains operated:
The first pole is defined by the TGV - high-speed train - (Inoui and Ouigo) and Intercités travel offer (without forgetting international carriers such as the Eurostar Group or TGV Lyria)
The second pole corresponds to the TER (regional trains)
And finally, the Transilien offer
TGV-Intercités
As previously indicated, the TGV-Intercités travel offer includes the majority of SNCF travel offers. We first find in this pole the TGV Inoui, the famous SNCF high-speed trains connecting the major cities of France, but also the Ouigo, the low-cost offer of the SNCF, and the Intercités, serving many cities French cities are not necessarily connected to the high-speed network, day or night. But that's not all, this offer also includes international trips distributed by SNCF: Ouigo Spain, Lyria (high-speed trains between France and Switzerland) and those of the Eurostar Group (high-speed trains between France and the United Kingdom but also Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany since the Thalys-Eurostar merger in 2023).
TER
The second pole operates the TER (Transport Express Régional), which are regional trains connecting large and small towns in France. They were launched in 1995 to develop the territories. They therefore allow you to explore the most hidden places in the different regions of France and to go where high-speed cannot take you. TER trains are ideal for getting as close as possible to your destination, with ticket prices being much cheaper than TGV trains.
The TERs are managed independently by each region, in collaboration with SNCF.
Transilien
Finally, the third division manages the Transilien, which represents some train and RER lines in Île-de-France for Île-de-France Mobilités.
As you will have understood, SNCF Voyageurs therefore ensures a good part of your trips, since the subsidiary organizes your daily and regional journeys, but also some of your international trips.

What is SNCF Voyageurs used for?
The role of SNCF Voyageurs is to ensure your travels from A to Z , from the sale of the ticket to the transport itself, but also security and maintenance.
Selling the ticket directly on the SNCF Voyageurs website is not possible, it is therefore done on the sncf-connect website. Then, to the extent that SNCF Voyageurs is in charge of transport in its entirety, the company therefore covers numerous elements such as driving, on-board checks, maintenance of rolling stock and even the management of energy solutions.
Finally, SNCF Voyageurs takes care of the after-sales part of your trip, if you have any complaints, you will therefore be received by them!
